About the role
As a Formulation/Analytical Scientist at AstraZeneca, you will work within a lab-based environment supporting multiple drug project teams in formulation development. Your focus will be on developing and delivering various formulation systems, including oral, inhaled, and parenteral formulations. You will also perform critical characterization work, such as stability, homogeneity, impurity, pH, and particle size measurements, specifically supporting discovery and preclinical development projects.
In this role, you’ll be expected to perform hands-on experimental work, collaborate closely with internal functions, and ensure all activities meet the necessary safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering formulations for oral, inhaled, and parenteral use, with a strong emphasis on liquid formulations.
- Conducting essential characterization work, including content, stability, homogeneity, impurity, pH, and particle size measurements.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including formulators, analysts, and biopharmaceutical experts.
- Ensuring all work is documented with the required quality and standards, and clearly communicated to your project team.
Collaborating with other internal teams to enhance advanced drug delivery capabilities.
About you
We are looking for a driven, innovative, and detail-oriented scientist with a passion for formulation development. You should have a strong background in pharmaceutical sciences, with experience in formulation development and laboratory-based work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and will have excellent communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
Qualifications:
- MSc degree in a scientific discipline relevant to analytical and formulation science (e.g., chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, or equivalent qualifications).
- Basic understanding of liquid formulations and basic knowledge of analytical methodologies such as spectrometry and separation science (U/HPLC).
- Genuine interest in experimental work and hands-on problem solving.
- Delivery focused with the ability to utilize scientific and innovative thinking.
- Great communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
