Lernia is, among other things, a relocation company that offers services that make it easier for people and companies to move to a new place, either within Sweden or from another country to Sweden. Corporate relocation encompasses several parts, such as moving, housing and immigration. Your new employee and their family can also receive personal guidance and support into the new city or country through us as a relocation agency. Advance visits

In order for your candidate to feel as secure and at home as possible before starting the job, we offer a tour of the candidate’s new area. This means that we plan, coordinate and conduct an advance visit to the new location that your candidate and the candidate’s family are moving to. Taking a tour helps to support the decision-making process and also ensures that your candidate has an easier transition when it's time to move.

How it works

We start by interviewing the candidate about their preferences, such as housing preferences, leisure time activities, schools and other employments to consider. Once the candidate and their family arrive at the airport, we meet them with a warm welcome and begin the advance visit.

The advance visit may include lunch and several pre-booked visits based on the wishes during the interview. Afterwards, we usually take the candidate to the workplace. While you show your candidate around the office, we and the candidate's family continue to familiarise ourselves with the new city.

Housing search

A pleasant home is essential for your new employee to thrive and do a good job. To find the right accommodation for your new employee and family, we always do an initial analysis of needs, requirements and preferences. Based on this, we then look for suitable homes through our large network of property contacts.

We book meetings and viewings, or remote live viewing, with the landlord that we for to together with your new employee. Once your new employee has found the right accommodation, we are available to help you with contract negotiations and other administrative tasks.

Do you have little experience of international removal assistance? Just evaluating removal companies and planning the logistics for an international move can be time-consuming and difficult in itself. Partner support

After arriving at the new home, your new employee will be busy with their new job. It's important to settle in at your company, meet new colleagues and get involved in the first projects.  Amid all the commotion and activities, it's easy for your employee’s accompanying partner, husband or wife to feel lost. It can be difficult to know how to start your journey to employment and your own space and network in a new country.

To help the employee’s partner to settle in more quickly, we provide practical support and personal assistance. This may be a matter of finding a job or education in their desired field faster. The service includes coaching, counselling and in-depth information about the regional labour market.

When moving to a new city or country, the “to-do list” is usually miles long. Let us streamline the process and leave guesswork out of the equation! We support your new employee in the process of understanding banking procedures, registering with Swedish authorities, obtaining ID documents, registering with the healthcare system and applying for a Swedish driving licence etc.

We can also help with rental or purchase contracts, school registration and childcare arrangements, among other things.

Regular follow-up

Follow-up year – for an employee who stays longer

Congratulations! You attracted and signed the perfect candidate for your position – now it's time to make sure they stay around for years to come! To increase the likelihood that the new employee and his or her family will stay for a long time and thrive in their new home country, we highly recommend our “follow-up year” programme.

We check in with the family every month for twelve months, answer questions that have arisen and come up with suggestions for solutions. Between these monthly check-ins, we are also constantly available to answer questions and give support. It's just like a couple of extra friends along the way!

And now for the fun part – we'll take your employee on a tour exploring their new hometown! We discover local shops, museums, libraries, restaurants, leisure activities, entertainment and other local gems in your city. Of course, we introduce them to the public transport system so that they can easily get around on their own. Gothenburg, Stockholm or somewhere else in Sweden – we offer relocation services all over the country!

Language is often the most important way into the community at a workplace and a prerequisite for the person to want to stay for a longer period of time. Being able to make oneself understood and understand one’s new colleagues also helps us to thrive.

We offer language training in Swedish for different levels, ranging from healthcare Swedish to Government agency Swedish. All courses also include an introduction to the Swedish work culture, for an even smoother entry into the Swedish labour market. No matter what type of course you choose with us, we can guarantee that it will make a big difference for everyone involved!

How we help your family to come to Sweden

Finding the right school or childcare

Does your candidate have children? Then moving to a new country is probably an even bigger decision. We support you on your way to finding the school and childcare that suits your candidate’s needs.

We start by interviewing the candidate about the child’s or children‘s age, language skills and needs. We then identify suitable schools, pre-schools and kindergartens. Of course, we are involved in setting up meetings, visits and support with other practical parts during the rest of the application and registration process.
